Goodyear Duratrac

Just put on a set of Goodyear Duratrac 31x10.5x15 and like the look and feel. Pretty quiet on the highway and very stable. Haven't been offroad so can't say how they perform. Always been a BFG All-Terrain user but thought I would give these a try. Anyone made the switch?

I'm still a BFG AT fan, but those are the only other ones I might consider. Since I JUST bought brand new BFG ATs, it will be quite a while before I'm ready to switch, but the fact that the Duratrac's have white letters (white walls out!!) and it sounds like they're as good in the snow and on the street means they sound like a good option.

I don't suppose you'll be hitting much snow in SC, but keep us posted how you like them.

Great looking truck, too. Good looking rear fender flares - what kind are they? Pacer flexy or something more specific to your model?

Mine came from Aiken 5 months ago, I drove down and trailered it back. It's still trying to get acclimated to this weather

I switched from the km2 to the duratrac. The duratrac has better road manners even from going from a 33x10.5 km2 to 315/75R16 duratrac, which is much larger. More like a 35.

Great find. South Carolina's a good place to find vintage vehicles still in great shape. The fender flares are stock. All I did was spray them with plasti-dip. I love that stuff.

The DTs look good on your 1st gen! I can't comment on the load "C" rated versions, but I've got 285s/33s in load "E" on my Land Cruiser and they have been a great tire in pretty much every situation I've put them to. Haven't gotten on sharp rocks though. Have almost 40k on mine and they're still over 1/2 tread on an almost 6k lb vehicle!

I was planning to get those tires next. Are there several models that say "Wrangler" on them? I met a guy who spends all his time driving around on county logging roads and he says the Wranglers were holding up way better than the BFG ATs. I had the ATs on my Chevy and wore them out in about 20,000 miles, mostly hauling stuff on gravel roads.

"wrangler" is pretty much just the GY product line for all their tires that see dirt. example: MTR-kevlars are actually "Wrangler MTR-K"

Not exactly serious off-roading but a lot of fun to drive around my farm. Good excuse to test out the Duratracs.

MAN your truck looks good. I'd paint mine blue (after the restoration) but my car is blue already... I can't get enough of it, your truck looks so damn good!

I agree with Rowdydudeman, that truck looks great. Those tires, in the size I use, don't have white letters but I'm fine with that. I wonder why that is: LT235/85R16, no matter what brand, always have black letters, on the 3 different sets and brands that I've seen.

I love my Duratracs. I'm actually on my second set on my truck, in the 265/75R16 variety. Very good road manners, great in snow and ice, and they hold traction really well when I put the throttle down. Much better than the old BFGs I used to run. Seemed to me, once they hit the halfway point, the rubber got stiff and traction less. It didn't take much for them to let loose. That, and after the halfway point, balancing them was pointless. Didn't matter how hard you tried. I could balance them, they'd be good for a week or so, then start wiggling and wobbling again.

Thanks. Just washed it today and pulled off all the hay that was stuck in the springs. It shines up nice.
