Fuel pump!?!?

1980 Toyota pickup 20R 4x4. What wire goes to the fuel pump? Is that even the stock pump/location? Also why does the 20R require a reverse terminal batt and the 22r models don't? It's not in my Hayne's and alldata doesn't offer 1980 lol. PLEASE HELP ME!

The 20r and 22r are mechanical fuel pump, yours is aftermarket; that's about as much as I can tell you

Some 20R's had electronic fuel pumps, but I don't think they looked like that. Looks like an aftermarket pump and carb. Best thing for these old trucks is to find yourself a Factory Service Manual. Beyond that I can't help..

The worst thing about trucks this old is usually not their actual age, but all the time previous owners have had to screw with things leaving you with no idea what's going on...

Mines doesn't have a place in the cyl head for a mechanical fuel pump, I have also seen some toy's of the same gen at the junkyard with no mount on the cyl head either, but they were 2wd.

does that pump have a built in regulator

i would wire in a relay and a fuse off of the ignition switch when its in the On position

if that is a stock pump you should have a relay and a fuse for it under the hood for a relay and and fuse under the dash...

iam sure if you poke around and look at your fuse box it might answer your own question.. if that electric fuel pump is actually supposed to be there..

Fuel filter is not hooked up because I didn't know if I was going to have to move the fuel pump to a different location. I would prefer that it is close to stock as possible for electrical and engine parts (fuel delivery, cooling system) I now have a bigger problem, the truck was in my carport before I went to south dakota and I left the hood off and didn't cover the carb by mistake, i've drained the bowl a few times, covered the carb with my hand, and it still barely idles, and the accelerator pump doesn't operate either. Rebuild, or weber 32/36 with water choke? lol
