there should be NO movement in and out ...
I'd say it's toast .. best replace it .

other then not cleaning and repacking .. there is NO "fast way" to do it ..

Sounds like what my rear end in my truck was doing. I think it was the bearing that went out. easyer to just find a used one and roll it under.

ok so let me get this right

your 3rd it thrashed

you have a spare

you want to know is there a fast way to get the SFA inner axles out?

YES!

remove caliper

remove the steering arms upper and lower steering pin

remove the rock rings

rotate entire rotor and hub assmebly until the flat spots on the birfield are at 12 and 6 o'clock, shining a light down the trunnion bearing hole will help guide you to find this position.

Once the flat spots are stabbed rock the birf and inner axle out of the axle ball you will be taking the knuckle, rotor, hub assembly, birf and inner axle out in one shot

repeat on opposite side

of course the 3rd bolts and DS need to be removed

roll out bad 3rd

clean and rtv sealing surface

roll in new 3rd

lining up the flat spots on the birf at 12 and 6 o'clock rock the birf back in

note: check the trunnion bearing make sure they are lined up

reinstall rock ring

reinstall steering arms and pins and torque steering studs

Just so you know this can be a PITA if your axle ball is bent or your birfs are mushroomed

It can also be hard to do get the steering arms off and the cones if you can get yours off then ad some anti seize to the cones to make the next time easier

the rock rings seem tricky but plan an attack and its actually quite easy

HOPE THIS HELPS AND HOPE I DID NOT MISS ANYTHING

I'd help if you where in tacoma we woudl be done in a hour and a half

thanks for the help i just got the 3rd out. it's not as bad as i thought. it looks like the crush sleve got crushed more, but its darkout so its hard to tell. i hit a rock perty hard and caved in my frount axle about 1/2" and then the pinion seal started leaking and now that i cheeked it i seen it was bad.
i'll have some new inter seals in the morning and i will put it all back together. it wasnt as hard as i thought it would be as long as it go back together as good.

sounds good

i stopped using crush sleeves beacause offroading is way to rough for em get a solid spacer keep that pinion gear from floating.

So did you take it apart the hub assembly or did you cheat and take the knuckle off?
