few Q's about for my 81 4x4
ok I have a few questions on some things I want to do to my 81 4x4
the ride in the truck is stiff, my front leaf springs have negative arch...
to fix it I am debating on OME light duty leaf springs or possibly rears up front!
Q 1 how much lift will rears up front give me?
Q 2 are OME (light duty front leafs) worth the price?
second topic
I have a 83 4x4 parts truck (parting it out) and its all there, and I am debating on dual cases but not sure if its worth it for a DD?
third topic
I have a set of 5.29 thirds (rear has detroit front is open) that I would love to run but Im still running 31s (til I can afford 33s). I drive the truck about 10 miles total everyday no more than 45-50 mph
Q 1 how bad would it be to run 5.29s with 31s
Q 2 will a detroit locker kill my truck as far as being a DD

from your other thread:
If you want a dual purpose truck, than yes, it my opinion it is worth it.
but a word of caution on adding duals...
a second transfer case is just one part of the equation...
Rough estimate of adding duals to a truck. (some can do it cheaper due to their fab skills)
dual case adapter $299-350
CrossMember: $199-270
Drive shaft $200-400 ++ (depending on who you go with)
(shortening rear and lengthening front)
2nd Transfer case $75-150
(yes you have yours)
Adding duals can run up over a $1000 very easily. For me it was an easy decision because after going on a few trail runs and almost breaking stuff because I had to give it a ton of skinny pedal to get over stuff that the guys with more gearing options were able to practically idle over.
I am looking forward to having 20 forward speeds and 4 reverse
Stock 5 speed 4WD, stock 2.28 LR, 4.7 gears in crawl box and than 2.28x4.7 in lo, lo...
It really all just comes down to what you want to do with your truck...

You get used to the driving characteristics of a locked truck after awhile...
