No. Yota trucks and 4runners never got factory locker/LSD/what have you, until the Tacoma era- '96+.

Early Land Cruisers (FJ/BJ-60 and some earlier models) had cable actuated lockers. Then the FZJ-80s in the mid-'90s had the option of front and rear electric lockers.

I thought some later SR5's (maybe only 2wd ones) did have rear LSD as an option? Never in the front, though.

You could buy it as a factory add on in the early 80s.
It did have to be ordered from japan..
I have a factory installed pre TRD LSD diff.

How would I know if I had it. Is there like some bin number or something. My truck was originally out of California if that helps.

1979-1983 Toyota US bound 4x4 trucks did not have Posi's installed in them from the factory on either front or rear differentials. In 1983 you could order rear Posi's through your Toyota dealer and these were clutch type Posi's under the TRD label. In Canada, some 1980-1983 Toyota 4x4 trucks had rear clutch type Pos's factory installed or available as an option (Slacker would probably know more about this). Special option / limited edition 1983 Toyota 4x4 trucks (rare) had clutch type Posi's factory installed in front and rear differentials. This is being submitted by some "Old Guy". Ha Ha!

I have factory Posi's in front and rear but my VIN # does not indicate this. My original paperwork, that I received when I purchased my truck, does show them under the list of additional equipment and options. I am not sure if the spin test would show a clutch type Posi installation but then I am not a mechanic. Maybe someone else in the forum can provide that information or tell you what what type of test you need to perform.

From Toyota. No.

In the 30 years your truck has been in existence has someone put something besides the factory diff in the front, possible.

I don't know maybe. My truck was originally out of California and was shipped up to Washington with the original owner on a aircraft carrier. I could ask the original owner as he is my neighbor.
