Engine work costs
I have a 1983 pickup with a 22R that needs a new timing chain. It's rubbing and I dont have the space to do it myself.
I am in the norther Virginia area and got a quote from a reputable shop for $3,500 to replace the timing chain, head gaskets and machine and test the head. Does this sound like a fair price?
Thanks

What’s the mileage on engine? I see its a ‘83 but worn timing chain does not indicate a rebuild required. The price seems about right.
I installed timing chain on a 230k mile engine last year, If I can do it a stoned monkey can…its just tedious. there is lots of info on this forum. Its a whole day adventure….a very long day.
