EGR Removal

Why does everyone want to remove their EGR? Is it because they don't know what it is or looking for power in the wrong places?

That`s a question that if you asked ten different people you would get ten different answers. If seems that those with the 3.slow notice a power gain with the EGR blocked off, but im not real sure if there is a noticeable gain on a 22RE.

but EGR doesn't rob any power. it can't. at low manifold vacuum (WOT) the EGR valve is closed. it's only a cruising speeds that the valve will start to open.

The EGR is just one more system to fail. Most times it is hard to diagnosis and makes the engine bay cluttered. It has it's purpose though...

I couldn't find a replacement EGR valve for my '80 so I decided to go without it.
