83 22R wont start

Well I just got a 83 Pickup, 22R with the RUST option. Anywho, I bought it knowing that just recently it was running, the PO shut it off, went to start it again and nothing.

What I've done so far is had 3 starters in it (1 that I am 100% sure works as its out of my running 4Runner, and was also recently rebuilt), 2 batteries, and a new cable from the starter to the battery.

The Problem...on its best attempt to start, the motor turned a full revolution slowwwwwly. Normally all it does is engage the starter, and rotate a small amount. Sounds like a dead/dying battery. Never has the dead battery "click" sound.

Just don't know where to take it from here, all the grounds are there and intact.

Any suggestions?

if it starts with a jump then you have a loose connection. mine did that, the one plug in that goes to the battery (little green plug) was kinda hooked up and another wire was kinda on the battery so wouldn't start under its own power

Will not start with a jump, only difference when hooked is 14+ V instead of 12.5V.
Talking to my buddy last night, we figured it could be a missing ground. As of right now the truck has only 1 coming off of the battery, which goes to the body. My 4runner has one going to the body & block. Maybe this would explain why the frame-to-block ground is warm to the touch?

Need to have a ground going straight from the battery to the frame as well.

you should always have a ground from the block to the neg battery terminal for no voltage drop on your starter circuit. your starter will love you for it
