driveshaft lenght (shortbed - longbed)

My '77 2WD has a 2 piece shaft with a carrier bearing. My guess would be that the added length of the T-case attached to the tranny would shorten the driveshaft enough to eliminate the need for a carrier bearing.

Thanks for the info.
Hey Phssthpok, any pics of the '77? That was my first car (truck) I ever had. I taught myself how to drive standard with that truck. I put a new oil pump in it, rebuilt the carb, and changed the oil, sometimes. Too bad that bed rusted out so bad. Great little truck.

Just like mine, except the rims.
While driving it I bought a 1974 that I "thought" had a better body. I pulled my 20R and put it in the '74. It didn't fit! The frame on the '74 was more narrow than the '77. I put the 20R back in the '77, and upon further inspection of the '74's body, I junked it. It was really bad!
(I did swipe a couple of parts)
