No I have the window removed to paint the truck and to replace the window gasket. You can do the dash with the window left in. A little easier with it out. I had the dash and pad out at one point but decised that having the pad in the truck was better because it gave more support for the pad when installing the coverlay.

Hows the herculiner and noise? on the 82 in the top of the cab is it bare metal or a fabric of some sort, and how did you paint that?

 

I have not driven it since I did the Heculiner, but it will be a trail toy so I am not really concerned about the noise. It had a headliner in it when i bought it, but I ripped it out, scuffed, cleaned and painted with Krylon rattle. It turned out very good.

 

Are you running any interior at all?

I'm be tossing out what's left of my interior tomorrow.

 

Well I got my cb and stereo ran this weekend. Added some new to me 6x9's in the door. I also installed my windshield. I used a new gasket thing and it was not that easy. Now I just have to wait for a nice day so I can pull it out to let the gasket form to the truck better. Then put the adhesive stuff in and it's done!!

 

I am supposed to use some type of adheisive to glue the gasket to the window and truck. Have any of you done this before or know what type to use?

 

I had mine replaced by one of those glass shop guys who comes to you. He wiped a liquid on my window frame, which he said was rust inhibitor, then just put the rubber gasket on a new glass windshield and installed it with no sealer at all.

 

Ya that's what I thought you do, but the toyota manual shows adding a sealer. So I figured that I should.

 

So I ended up buying a tube of urethane sealant and used a calking gun to apply it. It went on fairly easy and turned out pretty good. It is raining today, so once my 24 hours is up I am going to park it outside to see if I have any leaks.

 

The intereior came togther very well. Utilitarian, but still comfey.

I have not worked on it much lately, I bought a rebuild kit for the carb and plan on rebuilding it sometime (next couple weekends are busy).

That's how I used to think, now that I am done with school and got my degrees I have plenty of cash and no time. While in school I had plenty of time and no cash. Life is grand.

 

Looks good. I just picked up an '81 to use for my trail rig. Good tips on the windshield seal replacement...something I need to do for mine.

 

I would recommend getting a seal from the dealer, it did not cost much more than the cheap aftermarket ones and worked great. Just follow the dealer book directions and make sure you have a few guys, cause it can be a pain to get it installed.

 

Well I have been away for quite awhile. Now I am back and ready to do some more work on the truck. I moved while I was away, so no more garage But my dad's shop is only a mile or so away from my new place. I have still not rebuilt the carb. Bought a boat and have been fishing for the past 4 months. I am planning on tearing the carb apart over the long weekend coming up I decided to wait on the truck because I would have to go through emissions to get it licensed. Come November my truck is 25 years old and no emissions So now I am back!!!! Good to hear from you guys

Well I got the carb pulled out this weekend and plan on tearing it apart this week. This will be my first carb rebuild.

 

Well the rebuild went well. Much easier than I expected. After work tonight I will drop it on and hook it back up. Hopfully it fires.
