clutch change?
Ive been burning up my clutch because of my mad off road skills and the lack of a crawler box. So i was wondering how hard it is to change out a clutch on a 22r/20r hybrid, 4spd? should i get a centerforce? Im not worried about down time, but im just wondering.
Thanks

I just bought a clutch for my truck but have not installed it yet. The brand is Asco, which is supposed to be the same brand the factory uses but without the "TOYOTA" stamp on it. The dealer wanted over $300 for a clutch kit, but the Asco brand was about $120 for everything, including the pilot and throwout bearings. I figure the stock brand is good. I have about 176k on my truck and the clutch is starting to slip a little, but it has had some hard use. I learned how to drive on it when I was 9 years old and for about 90k my mom would always start off in second gear, even up hills.

I got my CF DF for 235 on ebay, my last one 6 years ago was over 300 IIRC.
CF is a great clutch, and works very well. When I sold my other one it had alomst no wear after 30,000 miles.
If you can afford it look at a heavy flywheel, they make a huge difference.

If it is your first time doing a clutch and you are not incredibly mechanically inclined, plan for a whole day and plan for a long day. It is not hard, just time consuming. Rent a tranny jack, it will make your life much easier.

Clutch is easy. Less than a day. I would also suggest a tranny jack as Intrepid said. I did mine on a 2 ton floor jack with the 2" plate and the tranny fell pff a couple times trying to get it lined up (not fun). Make sure you get the allignment tool or an old input shaft to get the plate lined up or you're in for a long long day.
