carb problems?

sorry in advance if this has been posted but I really am not sure how to word it in the search... with that being said I have a 1982 4x4 truck with a 22r and am not sure if my carb is suppose to drain when it sits for awhile, it is not leaking on the outside of the carb but the window in front of the carb is empty when it sits for a bit and I have to pump the heck out of it when I start it...when it is running it idles fine and takes off fine (for having 38's) but was just curious if this is common as this is my first carbed 4x4 any help would be great and thank u for reading....

_I bougt my truck 4 years ago.
And since day one, the PO told me that I have to pump the acelerator 3 times, in order to fire up the truck.
-My carb window gets also empty...
-Sorry, but I don't know neither if this is normal...Never had a trouble tough.

thanks for ur input guys but if I only had to pump it three or four times I would not have thought there was a problem...it really isn't that big of a deal but was kind of wondering if the empty carb was normal...thank u for the quick replies

I have a 82 that does the same thing. After setting for 3 or more days it needs to be primed, or it will run the battery down before it starts. My 89 was also doing this until I rebuilt the carb.

Mine's the same, but I don't feel like it was always this way...seems like only recently that it takes a lot of cranking before it will start after sitting for a couple days. But yes, of course you'll always need a couple pumps of the gas before starting it for the first time of the day to get it primed.

Mine started doin that out of nowhere about a month ago. Bought a 30 dollar rebuild kit from NAPA, took it apart, put it back together, and it's started on the first turn ever since...
Carb rebuilding is kind of a pain. Keep it real clean and don't lose track of any tiny parts...
