carb issues 22r

well i got major carb issues with a 22r.
runnin way rich(blowing black smoke),stinks like hell, runs like dirt.
i tried adjusting air/fuel mix and timing, put ngk's in it and nothing.it just wont respond.
is it rebuild time or weber or pane or 22re??
lemme know what you guys think.

I just went through the same thing. My fix was to rebuild the carburetor. The idle adjustment screw only sets the mixture at idle and has no effect when running down the road.

BTW, I live in Parker, too.

if it's running pig rich it's usually the AAP diaphragm on the side of the carb. when it goes, it spews raw gas into the vacuum lines and makes the engine blow black smoke.

thanx for editing that for me i tried and couldnt.
im gonna check that aap and see if thats the issue,i pulled the carb last night just enough to drill out the idle screw plug.and there was raw fuel chillin in the intake.so that may be the culprit.
more than likely i will rebuild it or slap on a weber.
yo parshal youre in parker too? sweet.wanna help out with this???lemme know.or you got a spare carb so i can see if that one works and then i can go from there.

alright kyle i just got home and checked the aap.yip fuel in there, not alot but a little wetness so theres fuel.seems like the fuel was more in the vac line than anything but nonetheless its there, so that outta be the first place to look.
thanks alot for the advice.

It sounds like you already got your problem taken care of. I've now got a new one for myself. I'm rebuilding the front axle and finding broken bolts and such. I'll be working on it all weekend I'll bet.
