I have these really nice set of brush guards and rear smitty built bumper but they came off of an 85. Can I make them work on my '83? What needs to be done?

Thanks

Pete

the essayist way would be to try to see if they fit.

i would think that they would fit though, the only thing that changed in between is the front axle

Actually the front axle is probably one of things that stayed pretty close to the same. The body style is different and so I wouldn't assume that they fit, but measuring is good advice. They can always be made to fit, if you know a welder, pretty easily.

oh yea, forgot about that, i thought it was in the same generation

but, i think that the front axel was solid 85 and before and then IFS, or that might just be for the 4runner

my 85 is a solid axle. The real question I guess is if the frame changed at all or did just the body.

Right, 85 was still solid axle and that's what he's got.

I'm assuming the frame chaged a bit, but whether the changes affect the bumper, I don't know. If you have the bumpers and the truck, why not just try it out?

There are a couple people on sites parting out trucks like yours. Check out the classifieds. Try marlin crawlers forum, too, there's a lot on the "parts for sale" section there, might have what you're looking for.

if it doesn't directly bolt up (nothing a little time with a wrench and a driveway won' let you know) you may need to make some brackets...tape measures...

All back bumpers '79 - '89 are interchangeable.

The front mount points changed with generations, so you'd need to do some work to get the front to work with your truck.

THe skid plate covers the pulley section of the motor. She bolts up at the front "spring-hanger" cross member and the rear of it bolts up about 2 feet down the frame rails. I don't see what would skid... it sits pretty high up. I'd say mud resistor to my alternator
