Can I plug this off?

Heater hose question.

My heater hose is connected on the drivers side in the usual stub off the lower radiator hose.

My other hose connects in the intake manifold ( see red square in pic ) I noticed today a small rubber hose coming off the pipe from the timing cover to a 90 degree nipple under my intake ( yellow square in pic ) That small section of rubber hose is sketchy & needs replaced, can I just block it off & plug the nipple under the intake or will I lose coolant flow to my heater core ( after market school bus heater set up not stock toyota, not that it matters )

My heater hose is connected in the intake ( red square ) the line I'm wanting to plug off is the lower tube/line coming off the timing cover ( yellow square ). I understand the bottom line flows coolant to heat the intake for cold weather ( borrowed pic, not my engine )
