Bleeding Clutch?

Hey guys, I need some help or maybe some reaffirmation, lol.

My 82 4wd is having trouble going into gear. I had this problem about 200 miles ago and I was able to fix it by adjusting the clutch pedal. I thought that might be the problem but I do not think it is.

I am thinking that I need to bleed the clutch and replace fluids. Thoughts?

The truck will go through the gears easily when the engine is not running. The truck will also start in gear but then lurches.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Not sure if bleeding the clutch will solve the whole problem but old fluid an and old slave cylinder won't help either. Try bleeding the fluid out and getting all new fluid in and if you can get you a new slave cylinder for under $20 from your local auto parts store. Just make sure the new bleeder screw actually has a hole in it to let fluid through, I got bit by that this fall when I did a clutch job.

If those don't help them you need to do a full clutch job.

On my 1980, there is an adjustment on the linkage at the slave cylinder. You can try adjusting the linkage out there. I have had to adjust mine out a little bit and now it shifts fine.
