Best method for gear reduction?
I have an '82 truck with 4.11's, an L45 transmission, 32" tires, and a RF1A case. I feel like its geared too high, even in 4-low I would like it to crawl slower so I don't have to ride the clutch.
I'm thinking the most cost-effective way to achieve a reduction would be swapping the 4.11's out for a set of 5.29's. It is my daily driver; however, I don't need to go fast nor do I mind taking off from a stop sign in second-gear.
Your thoughts?

Probably going to keep running 32's but MAY run a 33... Not too much difference between the two. I have no long-term goals other than to maintain somewhat of a stock appearance. It has a 2" lift which I feel is plenty adequate for what I do, which are primarily forest service roads, some in bad condition, creek crossings, ruts, etc...no serious four-wheeling.
There are a few obstacles, mostly a series of rock ledges I have to ride the clutch (if my Weber stays running that is

A set of gears would run about $400-$500 if I install them I think. I haven't made up my mind, gotta buy the wife something for Christmas first. . .

There are triple sticks out there that do no require a second hole:

You might want to put some #'s into an online gear calculator, 5.29's and 33's/32's are gonna be screaming at highway speeds.
Ever set up your own gears?? It is kind of an art.

Dual cases will run you about $1k, just tell your wife it is a family gift..
