Automatic tranny for 1st Gen?
Are there any automatics that work in the first gen 4X4? I'm just starting to look for a truck... have been reading up on swaps(engine and tranny)... If I get one there are a couple people in the family that cant drive manual... Just a thought....

From the factory no, not first gen 4x4's as far as I know.. im sure you could swap one from a 2nd gen pickup or first gen 4runner with a 22R/22RE.

Swapped
I put a '92 auto in my '82, made my own shift controller and added 4.88's, I love this Toy now, too bad I built it for my son who is in the Navy.

Yeah... My default is eBay ... I found that the 4Runner had an optional automatic in the 4x4 with SA... I just need to buy and 85 efi 4runner and an 83 Shortbed Pick Up and "glue" them together ....
