Anyone done a gas tank swap?

Has anyone put a different fuel tank from a different vehicle in a 1st gen?? I've searched the site and I haven't found anything on it. I have an 82 Toyota Trailblazer, it has the same 13.6 gal tank as the long bed SR5's I believe. I've heard old Ford F-series tanks would work. The Ford tank is a 19 gal unit, so I could go more than 4 days on a tank. The Trailblazer is my DD and I go 300miles a week easily. A bigger tank would be an awesome addition to this truck, and I can get an old Ford tank WAY cheaper than an aftermarket unit. Everything is mechanical so it should be easy, right? Relocation to the spare tire carrier area? Any help and pics would be appreciated!!

It might be hard to find a Toyota Trailblazer.

I for one would love to see my first one.

If the tank will fit in the space and can be secured in a proper fashion.

I would be a little worried about going with a used tank after all that work.

I very seldom go more then 130 miles before filling up.

?????

OP, It will be the same as a 1st gen truck tank installation. Most people use the E350 tank i believe? Do some searching on google, i'm sure you'll find some info.

I had a SS 26 gallon tank made that fits in the stock location. You can find suppliers that make less expensive tanks. Check out the WEB for tank builders / suppliers.

I have a 1982 short bed 4X4 and wanted to know if anyone has put a 1985 13.5 gallon tank to replace a 1982 13.5 gallon tank? New ones (Spectra) are out there although not OEM.
