There's been a lot of V8 swaps done over the years. I tried to buy a nice one last year out of Denver with a small block Chevy but it sold the day I tried to buy it. What V8 engine are you thinking? A small block Chevy is the easiest. I have an 81 with no drivetrain that will get a Chevy V8 if I decide to build it. A lot of guys seem to frown on V8 swaps here. I like them.

I already have/had a chevy 350 in mine, I now want to put in a LS 5.3 or 6.0.

Do it!!! Who has a problem with v8s?
Ive seen a handful of 350 Toys for sale over the years people built for mud races but at this point you should probably doing something newer with efi even if it means putting together or buying a wiring harness.
i dont know size comparison off the top of my head but its hard to picture a 6.0 jammed in there.

I think some people get all funny about putting non Toyota parts in a Toyota... but they seem to overlook lockers and lift kits all the time.
If I had the time I would have loved to LS swap mine! Everything's better with an LS.

I have an 83 trekker , i tried and tried to go full toyota but for a yota swap its gonna be so much more money and so much less hp im gonna go LS. Plus show me a yota engine with good mpg lol and dont say 22r that awesome engine had no power but was great!

Hahaha yeah they were so good because they didn't have enough power to hurt themselves. I get decent mpg with my 3.4 swap, 14-20 depending on what I'm doing, but it's still sub-200 hp. LS will be fun! Let the haters hate.

I was gonna say the 3.4 would be a good one to keep it toyota but they are expensive these days and as you said nowhere near the same power eirher.
