my 81 pickup with a 22r is killing alternators and batteries. gone through 3 alts and 2 batteries so far. first alt and battery lasted 8 months, second alt lasted 3 weeks, now the 3rd won't charge at all. anyone know the problem and solution?

your grounds need replaced.. and the chevy 1wire is also very good, but your bad grounds will ruin that too.

cheap rebuilt alternators will blow faster than the original.

eventually they will stop warantying them.

fix the ground.

check the one from the battery to the inner fender. unbolt it and sand under it.

one from the right rear of the head to the fire wall.

one from the left frame to the motormount and then to the block.

if you dont have one to the block from the truck make one.

also make sure that the alternator bracet to the head is clean metal to metal where the alternator bolts and the block bolts this is part of the grounding.
