add a leafs??
so im looking for some more lift outta my 63" chevies... i came across this build thread http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=642166and he put some add a leafs on his chevies... this never crossed my mind but it seems like a good way to get the extra lift i need... will it mess up my flex much? thanks

The key with add-a-leaf springs is to use a leaf that is about the same thickness and arch as the existing leaves and is relatively long. This way that leaf will flex like the other leaves and will not stiffen the spring pack as much as the more common short, thick (stiff) add-a-leaf spring.
I made a set of AAL springs for my DD and if is not much stiffer than stock.
Went from 2 leaves + stiff overload leaf (stock):

and got rid of the overload leaf and made 3 new leaves, staggered in length from long to short:

and made up a 5 leaf pack that rides very nice:

Since the old leaves were riding on the stiff overload all the time, it used to be a very harsh ride. Now there is no overload to bottom out on and the ride is smooth at all times.
