AC idle question

I have an 83 Toyota 4x4 SR5 with factory AC. Last year I noticed that the AC wasn't blowing cold so I figured it probably had a leak in the system which was up until today was the old R12 type. I am not at all an AC expert and just know the very basics so I took it in to a local shop that specializes in Toyotas and Lexus. They do very good work, I took them my wife's Lexus RX when the AC needed attention. That turned out to be a road damaged AC condensor that they replaced. Anyway, back to the subject, I took my 83 in this morning to them and they said they would charge the system and inject the dye to find the leak. Also they were going to convert the system to the newer R134 or whatever. It was there most of the day and they finally called me and said it was ready. I showed up and was told that they replaced the old fittings to convert to the R134 and discovered a valve on the AC fitting that had stuck open causing the freon to leak. They pressure tested the system and it held pressure indicating that the system was not leaking anymore. Here's the question (finally). They said that due to my Weber carb (32/36) not having a high idle for the AC like the factory carb that the compressor would shut off when idling like at a stop light. They said it's not a big deal but that the AC would not cool as much until I took off from the stop light increasing the RPMs. Is there anything that I can do to the Weber carb to correct this? Or any other suggestions? Sorry for the novel, I just didn't want to leave any info out. By the way on the drive home, the AC worked fine but I could here the compressor shut off when I came to idle and turn on as soon as I took off. Thanks in advance.

If a stock system, there should be an A/C amplifier under the dash, behind the glove box with an adjustment for the low RPM cutoff. If so, turn the "RPM" knob to decrease the low cut off RPM. And there should be a facility with a fast idle solenoid like stock to bump up the idle speed. Or you could add a little hand throttle setup to allow for pumping up the idle speed, if needed:

Ok I'll check the AC amplifier. I don't really understand what you mean with the fast idle solenoid tho. Thanks for the info.

A thing that bumps up against the throttle linkage or applies vacuum to the carb. to increase the idle speed, making it faster.

22RE fast idle setup below:

And yes, you have a 22R and that will be a different setup. Search and 'm sure you'll find something as you are unlikely to be the first person in the world with A/C on a Weber carbed engine.

I have not been able to find much information regarding weber carbs and factory AC. Please update with any info you find cause I need to get my air working here soon.

Reading this about the AC amplifier makes me wonder if the actual ac amplifier could be used to bring the idle up ? has anybody ever played with one for this purpose ?

I have an electric two speed fan installed on my truck. My AC amplifier activates my AC Request fan relay, vs the AC idle up VSV, and my AC compressor. There is a small knob on the amplifier board that you can adjust to change the cut-in / cut-out RPM point of the AC compressor. I have been running my AC and Electric Fan System like this for 20+ years with no problems.Oh, I still have R12 refrigerant.

I use mine for a fast idle. AC has been removed, but I bypassed the low pressure switch and now just flip the "AC" on and I get a fast idle. Use it while air up with my electric compressor or also handy at higher elevations (like 10,000') where the idle speed normally drops.

I got a 83 webered...When the truck is stopped the air flow from the stock engine fan is too low to keep a/c real cold...If it matter to you put in a elec fan...idle speed does not do enough to help.
