82 4x4 pickup first timer
There are some really nice builds on this forum. I have read through a few of them and have come across some really great info. I really like the build up's that Toyospearo and Toyotech559 have done and are doing.
Well, now for mine. 1982 Toyota 4x4, 22R, 5 speed tranny, longbed.
Sorry no picture hard to do from my phone, but there is were a picture of it is located.
I picked the truck up from a cousin of mine. His little boy wanted my '08 Big Bear 4 wheeler and I wanted the toyota, so we both got what we wanted.
Not much rust on it, to speak of mostly on the bed of the truck and the bottom of the doors, the interior isn't all that great, needs a new clutch, pressure plate and master cylinde, the knuckles are leaking (thanks to Toyotech559 I know what I need to doMi, thanks for your buildup thread). I have the engine running good a tad to advanced on the timing but working the issue. The biggest problem I'm having with it at the moment is the alternator not charging and I keep blowing engine fuses. The wiring around the battery is a little messy (would like a photo or two of the wires running in that area if someone has time). I have build 4 cylinders before (Mazda, Isuzu, and Mitsubish) but never on a Toyotan and the wiring I have never been great with so some helpful info there is welcomed.
I have Dayton timberline 31x10.50x15 on it and an old warn winch that I need to replace some solenoids on and a bumper I had to rebuild. I will try and get some pictures posted on this tread this weekend.

Yeah I have the fever I guess you can say. Been trying to get this truck from my cuz for about 3 years and he finally came off of it. Now just have to start rat holeing money from my wife lol. If I can get it looking half as good as some I have seen on the forums I will be happy. I found an 83 in a salvage yard not far from where I live I'm hoping the interior is still mostly there waiting for me.

Hey thanks for putting the picture up there for me Ocd that is awesome of you to take the time to fix that for me. I'm not able to load the pics straight to the forums for some reason on my phone but I can load them on to Photobucket. Thank you.

Well its been awhile since I have posted on my little '82. Money reasons and work has kept me from doing much to it. A friend of mine picked up a nice '86 and got it running. So, I have started on mine again now that I have someone to go riding with. I found an '81 in a salvage yard close to me and I picked up a Carb, a really nice breather, two volt regulators, an ignition switch, and some interior pieces and got it all for 100 bucks.

I installed a new starter yesterday, so no more sluggish cranking because of crap starter.
Had a timing issue to where I couldn't get it to the 0 tick mark on the crank due to the distributor. I fixed this issue by using an end grinder and a small burr bit. I made the slot on the distributor longer on the retard side or the top of of the slot. When I reinstalled the distributor I put the timing a little on the advanced side so I could retard it back down to the 0 tick mark. It worked perfectly. So no more timing issues and saved myself 193 dollars on a new distributor.
I picked up a volt meter and a 1 wire GM to fix my toy alternator nightmare. I got home super ready to fix my problem and get the annoying lights to go off. I started by changing my volt regulator(old rusty one off of the salvage yard '81), mine had blown out on the bottom. Then I started checking all my voltage spots from my alt, to my fuze box to my battery and to my surprise I had no charging issues just light issues. Charging at 14.4 volts
