81 yota small project

im doing a front end rebuild, brakes(rotors, drums, longer brake lines) and bearings all the way around, redoing the wiring[battery wont charge(i think its a bad ground) and turn signals dont work] and painting it. and a whole long list of all the little stuff that can wait, ex. window rollers, windshield, patch the holes in the floor, and bolt the seat in. and then theres the never ending list of stuff i just want like: dual batteries, dual transfer cases, winch, rollbar (or maby an internal rollcage), lots of lights, cb, pa, ext.
ill be 16 this aug and i have 1500 to spend on the truck untill i get a job,
the truck its self is an 81 and has about an 8 in. lift, 36" tires, flowmaster exhaust, and a beautifuly running 22r, ill probly have lots of question along the way. so far ive pulled the bed off put it on jack stands and pulled the front axles out,

I like you front bumper! My wife slid and bent mine.

What do you plan on doing to the bed - I see that it is off? Also, what kind of gas milage do you get with an 8" lift?

Um I don't know everything about trucks but I don't think the 8" of lift will effect the gas mileage, now the 36's would

i took the bed off just so i could sandblast and paint, and i figured i could get to the wires easier. ill put it back on when i get it goin. and i drove it home(orting) from olympia and a lil bit around the nieborhood when i bought it, so i havent really drove it enough to see about gas milage.

I would have killed for a truck like that at 16. Take care of it and you'll have stories for a long time.

i found a front end rebuild kit i bough it and some bearings from this guy in enumclaw that i think ill git to know well. all i need now for the front end is calipers.
i have these lift blocks in the front that look kinda sketchy to me but my dad says there fine. should i get taller springs or just live with it for now?

It's not only a lift block but also an overload spring, I also see a longer shackle in back. Buy some new springs and get rid of that block and shackle before you drive it on the road. There's no need for all that lift, you can fit those tires with a lot less.

holy cow you guys are mind readers, thats exactly what i was gonna do. i was gonna get new leafs and get rid of the block, no way would i leave it like that. when i bout it it sat level but i think it still will if i get new leafs and ditch the block., but actually the tires rub the frame in the back in flex
