81 Toyota New to me!
I just wanted to share my new to me 81 Toyota. Unfortunately it is not the SR5 addition. It has either 94,000 miles or 194,000 miles on it. I am guessing it is 94,000 miles. I wanted to start a thread and post updated information about this truck. I have some work to do but it will be some time before I get out there to work on it. So far all I have done was clean it up some and gave it a good polish/wax to get rid of the oxidized paint and rebuilt the locking hubs. Anyways, please enjoy! Thanks

Thanks for the compliments. As for the paint it didn't look like that before. It took me 2 days to get it there and one day to get it dirty. There are some dings and dents that really came out since I cleaned it up. The interior is in good shape not great. The seats are ripped and it looks like a mouse chewed through the backrest. This truck sat in a barn for 10 years and was a one owner until I bought it from this older fellow who bought it and replaced all the wiring and gaskets and brakes and some other items. He owned it for a month and decided to sell it because it hurt his back when he drove it. Thank goodness for rough riding and craigslist.

Hey 83, I found this truck on Portland OR's craigslist and brought it back here to SW Montana. I disagree about being much nicer than yours, yours has been my inspiration since I seen this one. Just give yours a good detail and it will shine. But if you ever want to trade let me know.

Well thanks! I'll trade beds with you.

That's a seriously good find. If you're anything like me, and you're (sometimes unfortunately, I think) willing to do whatever it takes to get it up & running, all you need, really, is a good frame and body, and it looks like you've got that. The rest can be replaced. For a price...and a lot of work...

Cllleeaaannnn. Nice. Gotta love those split bench seats, eh? Right... I swapped mine out for 85 buckets. Not exactly comfortable...but way more comfy than those bench seats.
Looks like you got some snow today too! You can't be in Helena though cause I see driveways...none of those around here.

Ya I have been searching for some bucket seats. I just haven't found the right ones yet. Once I get the Tacoma sold, you will probably see it on craigslist soon, and finish some other projects then I hope to start working on this truck.
Were the 85 seats a direct swap or did you have to do a little modifications?
Nope not Helena thank goodness. Just south of you outside of Bozangeles.

thought that truck looked familar from my trolling on craigslist
though pretty clean, I am thinking from the condition of the seats it is closer to 194K vs 94K on the clock.
either way you got a keeper
Good luck finding a set of stock bucket seats to put in, early 90's Acura Integra or Civic seats fit pretty good in these trucks. the front mounts are almost bolt in.
If interested in those PM me and I can send you pics of the mounts...
take good care of this thing!
