80 2wd yota with 3k original miles(wrecked bad)

I am met up with this guy who has a 2wd 80 truck which was rolled big time when it only had 3k miles on it. I am heading over this week to yank the motor and inspect it to see whats going on. Its locked up and I figured I would see if I can break it lose without doing any damage to it. 20r motor is the sucky part. It has an L43 trans which looks really clean. The gauge cluster which is original shows just over 3000 miles. Thought I would post this since its a trip that someone kept a rig like this for this long.
I did get a 3rd member off him for working on the truck today but I need to inspect it to see how it is. No pics today but ill bring a camera next time so you can see this disaster. LOL

just remember most of those 2wds were 7" R&P. but i am also thinking it might be 103k. 3k original miles this think would have been wrecked back in February 1980, then parked.

guys .. actually 3000 is only 4 digits .. odo should read 03000 if its 3K so it could be accurate . I love to see it .. and I'll buy the speedo if it has the tach . dibs .

rear diff is actually 7.5" .. but anyways .. it wont fit a 4WD , which I think was the point .

looking forward to the pics ..

It has 3000 miles on it. For some reason it was never crushed but its been stored for a long time. Gonna be pulling the engine thursday and I will take some pics of it. When I removed the valve cover the pully which the fuel pump rides on didnt even have a single wear mark. Looked brand new. Let alone the cam lobes.
Gonna pull the oil pan and crank and take a look at whats going on and see if I can save the motor. The tranny is a L43 which is very firm. When you shift it there is absolutly no slop. I looked at all the dash pieces which were pulled and stored 8 yrs ago and they are amazing looking. The dash pad is near flawless. Plus it has fiberglass flares on front and rear which is very rare. The only thing hes missing is the carpet and seats.

Ok so i got some pics with my phone. They are not that great but you will get the idea. I tore the whole engine down and found a few little problems. Take a look for yourself. See if you can tell whats wrong in these pictures.
So much for a 3000 mile original 20R.

holy!! how long did this motor sit, and im guessing it was outside, and for 3000 miles shure looks like it was driven HARD that pitting in the piston shouldent really be there

Water pits like that. Its been sitting for about 3 yrs in a garage but never turned over. Before that is when the hood was ripped off and allowed water to get inside the engine.

Thankfully its not my engine so I just get to tell the owner to throw it in the trash. Its cool tho. I get all the original dash, door panels, axle ect ect. So I may end up with a 80 dash in my 82 truck. Plus he has a bunch of 83 dash and front grill pieces. As well as 3 fenders which look perfect and 1 fend which is one of those brand new ones he got a few yrs ago. I will be posting a lot of like new parts soon. At least the stuff I dont keep.
