77 truck will only go in 4th

Hey guys and gals new guy here. I just got a 77 pickup that runs like a champ but the tranny only goes into 4th. What i mean is the shifter will move into all gears but when you let the clutch pedal out it grinds like its not totally in gear.

I've taken a look at the slave cylinder and the adjuster nut is all the way out but the clutch lever on the tranny is only at about 50% of travel with the pedal to the floor. Anyone know if that would be the problem or is the tranny toast? Regardless im going to bleed the system and put on a new slave cylinder on tomorrow. Any other ideas as to what would cause this?

thanks
DB

I don't think its the syncro's. The reason is that the truck can be in first all the way and when you let the clutch out the gear grinds. It starts to grab and the truck will inch forward, but fully releasing the clutch pedal causes the grind. Would that be a syncro? I always thought the syncros would cause a grind when going from a gear to another gear, or am i wrong?

thanks

Oh i see what your saying now..... yea your clutch may not be engaging all the way causing the syn to slip off the gear because its only grabbed like a pinch of it..... tiz possible..... if it flows into all the gears fine without jumping out your syncs should be fine. Yea try the slave cly and possible clutch master cyl..... clutch pedal out of adjustment.... try adjusting it a bit maybe....
