4wd Wire cant find one
Well here is the problem well like you could see in my other thread I just finished installing the Clinometer, and as you all I really hate to leave things of my pickup not working correctly it has too little futures ....... cigarette lighter....brake light...beam....charge....tach........ well that's about the main futures it has, so I hooked the back lights of the clinometer to the dash light but I really can't find where to connect it cause my 4wd red light has not ever work so bottom line where could I find the physical cable to connect the 4wd clinometer light all I can see from the transmission is the back light and the Manual Electric diagram well can't really figure it out any clue would be great......
Thanks

Second the above. Just redid wiring on my transfer case and 4x4 light wiring is on the top right side of the transfer case. SOB to get at unless you take the trans hump cover and shifter assembly off. At any rate if they (factory) left you any wire slack and you have small hands you might be able to get it from underneath. Good hunting. Fred

Yeah, tiny hands help. I have a question for anyone who is willing to offer a reply....Swapped my transmissions in my 80 when I rebuilt the engine and put a top loading tranny in it. Don't know what happened to my back up lights, but like semo, I hate to have something as simple as these trucks and a feature not work. I can't find a spot on my tans for it to plug into. That's about all I got, any ideas?

Are you saying there's a 4wd light in the clinometer? That's what you're trying to get working? It would have to be one of the wires coming off the plug that goes into you tranny/t-case, or if you can figure out which wire going into your cluster triggers the green 4wd in it, you could splice into that. Do you have a FSM?
Just need to find that 4wd wire and splice in. This is for an '83...so yours will be different..

Hmmmm. My truck has a 2WD gauge cluster with a tach, but I still have the 4WD cluster with the "4WD" light. I need to take a look, and see if I can transplant the 4WD light into the 2WD cluster, and get it to work.
I found a 1980 4WD cluster with tach for $15 on craigslist, but the guy said he couldn't find it a few hours before I was supposed to pick it up. That with an $800 ARB winch bumper being sold for $50 are my " the ones that got away" stories lately.

I don't know if the 2wd's are different, but with the 4wd clusters, they're basically all the same, some just don't have the other options added to them. So if you have a spot on the 2wd cluster just like on your 4wd cluster, but there just isn't the 4wd thing there, then I'll bet if you flipped the cluster over you'd see a spot for a light bulb behind it, and it could be as easy as putting the green 4wd thing in there and plugging in a bulb and you're done. Could be.
