22r knocking HELP PLEASE
#1
okay so heres the deal, my 22r started knocking slightly yesterday, continued to drive it small distances, knock got worse in the evening so i drove home and parked it. when i started digging into it today, theres was no oil on the dipstick, and a bit of milk on the oil cap, i adjusted the valves hoping that would fix the knock( runs better though) tested compression 150-165 and 140 on one cylinder, but that cylinders spark plug threads are stripping and compression tester wasnt screwed in very good.
when i had the valve cover off i checked the timing chain, and it seemed fairly tight, guides and tensioner seemed intact, although i could see where the chain had worn the timing cover, assuming that happend to PO and he changed it, as the motor was "rebuilt" when i bought it ( silicone for most gaskets, #4 spark plug hole stripping) not very well rebuild anyway....
it has always leaked a little oil, but never ran dry like that, i dont get that.
and i have never had a motor knock so i cant really describe it, it isnt too bad at idle but gets louder and faster with rpm, it almost sounds like the timing chain is slapping but the guides seemed good.
hoping to figure out what the problem is ASAP so i can get on fixing it.
any help is appriciated,
thanks

Running without oil not good. Ruins rod and main bearings and journals.
Sounds like your engine already had a half-baked overhaul job.
It's probably time for a correct and comprehensive rebuild.
Likely no easy fix.

Low compression on one cylinder, oil leaked out, milky oik filler csp. Sounds like a blown head gasket. The knock could be damage from the blown head gasket. Need to take the r head off to investigate further. There's not going to be a bandaid for this it needs thrw head removed abd oil pan dropped.

If your rich then the lce kits is very good but engbuilder kits are good to for half the price and you definitely have messed your bearings up if you ran it with no oil I suggest dropping the oil pan and inspect your caps and bearings and look at the journals, but looks like your ready for a complete rebuild to me I doubt it's in the top end. You can pull your block measure your cylinders and see what size Pistons to get and send it to the machine shop and have it bored and look your head over and you can rebuild it yourself to save a lot of money. Your gonna be around $800 if you do it yourself good luck and ask questions or start a new thread on a rebuild you will get a lot if help

And relax.
This is a huge community. Thousands of people just killing time by reading threads who don't necessarily know more than how to change oil, slightly less who know how to do this or that but aren't what you'd call a mechanic, and just dozens who really know what they're talking about and can diagnose different problems.
Getting on the forums case because no one answered within 1 hour, then 3 hours of your initial post is a better way to get ignored than anything. It's the holidays. People have other things to do than get online to see if anyone is having troubles with their truck.
But welcome to yotatech and good luck.
Sounds like you likely damaged your engine by driving without oil. Sounds like you also have had water in your oil (coolant). Both those things will kill your bearings. Sounds like you'll need at least one spark plug thread chased if not tapped.
Everything either needs to be checked out very closely with measuring instruments, based on the specs for tolerances and clearances lined out in the Factory Service Manual (FSM) to make sure it's ok, or it just needs to be rebuilt. Head and block.
