Hi again folks. I am getting ready to have the old original 22r engine in my Toyota sr5 4x4 truck removed with a remanufactured one. What is the typical cost to have some one yank the old engine pull the necessary parts off it and put it on the remanufactured and install the engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Do it yourself is not that hard and save yourself $500-$1000 bucks

 

If I only had the time. I am working full time and in grad school. That means no fun with the truck.

 

I think you're looking at a minimum of 700 bucks to have a trained professional do the work.

You might find that steep but figure it takes one man at least a full (long) day to do the swap and at least another full (long) day to finish the re-assembly and check it out and make sure it's all right before he hands you the keys back. In those two days that guy could have had 4 to 8 cars that needed brake jobs and ball joints in the time it took him to make less profit on your engine swap.

Best of luck to you. Me, I would wait until I had time to do it. In fairness though it's a pain in the butt, sloppy, oily job (especially without a lift) and it can be frustrating the logistics of moving even a little 4 cylinder out of that engine bay...
