22r to 22re swap

Im new to all this form stuff. This probably has already been talked about...
I have an 83 pickup with the 22r. I have a 22re with only 3500 miles.
Does the 22r and 22re swap out?
How hard is it?
What all is needed?

The 22re will swap in, they are basically the same motor, although there ars some differences in heads and pistons on the pre85' yrs IIRC. Do you still have the vehicle that the 22re came in? That will make things alot easier if you can still pull parts from it. I've never done the swap, but I know you will need the ECU and wiring harness. Not sure what other bare minimal things you would need, I'm sure someone else will chime in, good luck and welcome to Yotatech.

Yes I still have the vehicle the 22re is gonna come out of. I knew there was probably some differences but wasn't sure.

Just curious, what year and make vehicle has the 22re in it? If it were me, I'd probably just pull the entire wiring harness out of the donor vehicle and swap it into the 83' along with the 22re, tranny and t-case (if they are in mechanically good shape)...I'd probably swap the rearend too for a little wider track width.

22re is in an 87 4runner... wrecked it a couple years ago after putting the brand new 22re in it.
Gonna put it in an 83 pickup

I too will be swapping an RE into my '83. Should definitely be the easiest motor swap out there
