How did you make that a oopsy? Ive never done it but I was for sure there was alot of mill work to go into a head before you could do that.. Something like pistons colliding with the head and catastrophic failure. Gonna need a lil more info for this one bro

The block is from 81 the head I found out is a 79. Block has been completely redone. By hand everything clears and valve train is working fine no interference from pistons to head other than intake manifold everything is the same im just wondering about vacume lines and coolant passage

Alrite so from what I can find out for ya is that it will work but the timing chain is gonna be off. I cant tell if its gonna be to tight or to loose. I was told that you should measure the heads height and that of a 22R and see what the difference is. That seems to be the only difference. Also make sure the pistons dont come into contact with the head. Some of the older 20r engines pistons and combustion chambers were shaped different then the 22r and even some of the 22r engines are diff from the 22re when your talking pistons. As far as wiring is concerned are you talking about things like acc. IE: the alternator and A/C etc etc.? Im not the best with wiring but Ill tell ya all I know. Hope it helps

OMG, guys, this is a typical 20r/22r hybrid. He's got the right years. Timing chain won't be off unless he uses a post 85 kit.

You must use the 20r intake manifold. Exhaust manifold is the same.

Correct. Normally when you build a hybrid, you should have the head ported, but it will work regardless. But you have to use the 20r intake manifold. Not sure on the vacuum. With the weber all you should need is the vacuum advance on the distributor supplied by the carb. (use front most port, block off the other). Alternator might be tricky. What year is the truck? What year is the alternator? Somewhere throughout the years and I am not sure when but they went from an external regulated to an internal regulated. Mounting should be the same.

I have done meny of these .. and IMO it's not worth it , unless your "just boltin' it on" . If your going for HP , your way better off to do an engine swap . my last hi-brid cost me 4G .. and my SC 5Vzfe cost me 5 .. about double the HP

.

Not to Highjack the thread but this might be something that you will run into Im got my engine together 20/22r the only thing that I ran into is the thermostat housing it looks like the hoset that runs to the radiator will hit the mechanical fuel pump, I do not want to to to an electric pump so I need to find a 20r thermostat housing that came on a truck/car with a mechanical fuel pump. does any one have any idea where or on what to find one?

Thanks

20r I have an 81 22r 4x4. I was thinking of doing a plug an play intake, head swap from a 20r? I gotta pull the engine anyway and if its simple it would be worth my while. I already smog deleted and Weber carbed it. With the Chevy alternator kit.
