[QUOTE=dropzone;52151253]You resurfaced your flywheel correct?
had mine turned once and they only machined the clutch surface and never did the mounting surface to match. clutch slipped and over heated everything ruined the fly wheel

Didn't resurface the flywheel because it looked practically brand new. But sometimes you have to ride the clutch when climbing. Pulled everything off and had the new clutch in 4 hours later. Took it mudding tonight and everything seems to be fine so far

You will be so much happier with ur aisin clutch stop buying autozone parts. Instead buy used parts or toyota parts. When autozone says lifetime warranty that means u will be replacing it so much cause they will just give u one somebody else brought in and sell it to you as a new one.im glad u finally made a good choice.

if you fried your clutch in one outing .
I think you need to look at going double cases.
Even the Aisin clutch will be fried in no time.
Fly wheels are so cheap When a new clutch goes in a new fly wheel also gets installed.
I need to put a clutch in once for the life of the vehicle unless a clueless driver uses the truck then a new clutch is needed.

I use Auto Zone parts almost 100% and only problems I've had with my daily driver is with alt and water pumps a couple times, there alternators aren't great as the core they use are pretty cra@y usually. The lifetime saves tons of dollars and no problems with the New Clutch which is AZ plus new flywheel, but any brand if a rebuilt could fail prematurely just as a new part could. If i remember AZ sells the clutch as a complete new part kit. Had it in there for over 3 years now and I only go one size over on tires, not much off roading but dont ride the clutch ever if possible plus keep the idle as low as possible. My front rotors are also AZ but I buy high end semi-matallic pads.
ADDED: I've also bought lots of smaller parts from RockAuto and have been pleased. Items like Water hoses , T-Stat, Volt-Reg., gaskets, etc. I think if you're going to modify any vehicle much you're going to need primium parts unlike every day stock drivers.
Gotta remember these are light duty trucks. The 4x4 is basicly a 2 wheel drive toyota truck with added transfer case and not much beefing up as a 4x4 for off roading from factory, I don't think it was intended for much more than rain, sand and mud, especially with that small 4 banger motor. Its amazing though what well modified pre'84 Toyota trucks can do. My thought...........

Autozone
I have had a lot of trouble with autozone over the years. I will shop there a pinch, but order most of my stuff from Toyota now. I will purchase from chain stores if I can verify manufacturer\country of origin before purchase.
1sttoyotaparts has good prices so does toyomotorparts
Prices are about the same but 1sttoyota is a little cheaper but shipping is a little slower, because I am on east coast. toyomotorparts ships from warehouse in Cali to nearby dealership then they mail to house so I get packages from them a little quicker.
I bought LUK clutch kit from NAPA and it was all Made in Japan
Not all AISIN parts are good anymore. I ordered new AISIN water pump and it was sand cast in the united states. Quality was not there. I now order NPW water pumps (made by Nissan, in Japan).
Napa used to sell Victor Reinz gaskets, and a head gasket for 22r or 20r were Japanese manufactured, and identical to the ones I would get from Toyota in a re-grind kit. now they have partnered with fel-pro and quality has taken a dump.

Thanks JaonYota. I was thinking it was a "step" . The shop I use is well aware that the Toyota flywheel is a little different then most others.
I bought my last Aisin Clutch from Rock Auto and it was from Japan. That was about 6 months ago and it had everything in the kit. I will buy my next from Rock Auto when I need one. I was really pleased with it.
A lot of the part stores send their alternator and starters to Mexico for a rebuild. The last one I bought from the part store had the Rebuilt in Mexico sticker on it and it failed. I didn't want to mess with exchanging it so I took my rebuilt one and used the parts off of it to fix my old one. Taking the rebuilt one a part, it had mixed matched screws and I just didn't like the looks of the work on it.
My last alternator that I had to fail, I took to a local rebuild shop. It cost me the same price as buying a parts store one and the job was 10 times better. The shops are getting harder to find but if you can find one that has an older guy in there and has been doing it for years, I feel you will come out money ahead and a much better job.

My .02 is that it was a bum clutch. Autozone and O'Reilly generally have pretty low-end parts. I'm a NAPA and Carquest kind of person. I find their store brands tend to be pretty high-quality. Even then, sometimes you just get a bad part. It happens.
Something to consider for your next clutch is the kevlar-composite clutch material. They pretty much last forever. A bit pricey though.
You'll go through at least two 22R's before the thing wears out in most cases. Some even come with lifetime warranties.
