1982 door part question

I found this metal plate lying in the bottom of the door, and I am stumped to where it goes. Any help and a picture would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

it was an "additional" shield Toyota used after the fact because they were so easy to steal . if you know how , you can use a pencil to open the door locks .

it goes up on the inside of the door to protect the door lock , so it cant be stolen .... as easily

.

It appears to have adhesive on a small portion, was double stick tape used to attach it? Thanks again.

I just put it in place. I could see the old adhesive on the inside of the door. Once in place, the door panel holds it in place. Several items completed today. I am currently waiting on the dash core to get painted, then I can put the together the dash.

Thanks for the information on that Slacker. Next time I am in an early door I want to see what it actually does. Something I was unaware of even noticed. Probably would of never guessed its purpose.
