4 or 5 speed for 1980 toyota truck
Just picked up a 1980 toyota truck and the 4 speed trans is broken, I think its a L43. I would prefer a L52 or L50 but would consider another L43 to get it up and running again. Anyone one have something laying around?

go for the L52, the sloppy side shifter L43 stinks
oh and be sure to keep the clutch cylinder from your current truck, the adjustable rod may come in handy doing the conversion. I had to do some clutch fork swap going or the cynlder rode L52 to L43 and Back to L52 on my old 81 Trekker.

SMG sorry for not responding, I've been doing a ton of searching and reading. I think I'm going to just go for a w56 swap. I eventually want to do a 1.9 TDI swap. Thanks for the offers anyway.

Dropzone--thanks for the advice; if I go in this direction, I may reach out to you.
SMG--I appreciate your fast response. As of now, I am looking at this truck and have not yet purchased. Only downside I currently see is that it has the 4 speed. Otherwise, seems solid. A bit pricey, though. If I get this I will contact you and be happy to head on over and take the L52 off your hands.
Thanks all!
