They're on sale for $49 and if they're sturdy that seems like a decent deal. Anyone have any experience? This would be for a '97 4wd T100

 

I had a Craftsman for 6 years before it crapped out.

Depends on usage on a daily basis.

I have 3 Harbor Freight now.

I don't think it's tall enough to lift a T100. The jack in your link only lifts to 13in. try this one:

Actually the reviews on the craftsman are very bad! I did like the size of the lift.

 

ahhh good point. i didn't even think about checking the height. i've never had a jack before so this is new to me. thanks for pointing that out.

 

I have a small 2-ton jack as well and it's not tall enough for anything related to putting the frame on jack stands without adding a block to jack. Also keep an eye on how tall those jack stands are as well. If your gonna need to put the frame on stands and droop the suspension they are gonna have to be pretty tall.

 

had one that folded under my suburban, but for a toyota it would be strong enough anyway

 

I've been researching jacks on and off this year for my 3rd gen 4runners, and I keep hearing bad things about the Craftsman jacks. I still haven't found one that I'm totally happy with for under $200, so I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

 

I had one of the larger Craftsman jacks like you see in a shop that went out after two years. Guess what they're not covered by warranty...

I have bought all my Jacks be they bottle or floor jacks from the local Hydraulic Repair Shop .

They service what they sell are up front and honest I have been dealing with them for 30 years.

Something to look into in the area where you live.

Yes You need the tall 6 Ton Jack stands to get the frame up high enough not so much for the weight but the height.

 

Remember, it is your life underneath that vehicle held up by the jack. Going cheap is not always the best answer. I had a Sears jack once, and it dropped one time when I was under the Camaro. The car's frame landed on my chest, but the jack stand saved my life. That Sears jack is in a landfill now, and I have used an OTC jack since (not cheap!).

I'm inheriting the maintenance responsibilities of my fiance's 3rd Gen SR5 (totally stock). Kind of excited about that as I've always wanted a 4Runner or Tacoma...and I get to buy new toys. I'm doing a brake job on it over the weekend and need to pick up a jack and jack stand. I'm heading to Harbor Freight this evening.

How tall does this jack have to go/how tall do the jack stands have to be? It sounds like a 3 Ton is the way to go. Do any of these fit the bill?

harbor freight jack. i've had mine for years now and it still works.

 

i'm definitely picking a jack up from Harbor Freight tonight. they have a 3 Ton that gets up to 18 1/4" high and a 4 ton that gets up to 20 1/2". Is 18 1/4" high enough? I won't be lifting it anymore than stock.

 

Always use jack stands, the jack or tires should be left as back up if the jack stands should fail

 

I'd buy that jack kit from sears and throw out the jack and keep the rest and then go to harbor freight and buy a jack. You can probably get a 3 ton for about $60.00 with 20% coupon even less. While I wouldn't buy all my stuff from harbor freight I have 2 of there jacks for a couple of years now and they work just fine.

I'll never get another jack with one of those short dinky arse handles.

I have some jack from harbor freight now. For my uses, it's great and I don't have to get down on the ground to use it. Plus it goes high enough to lift my truck.

 

Well mine died yesterday I new it was bad when a wheel popped off then it just folded up. Craftsman aint what it used to be
