Jig saw blades?
#2
I would recomend using a metal cutting blade in a circular saw. Much easier and quicker... That 3/16" steel will eat blades. If you got to cut curves see if you can get your hands on a cutting torch.

Any good quality blade works pretty well. The cheap or generic brands wear out almost instantly. Stay away from Harbor Freight for this type of thing. Get a contractor quality blade from the local building supply place. Bosch, Makita, Milwaulkee, etc.
Another cutting tool I use quite often is one of those air cut off tools. We call them wizzers for some reason. In Mass it's pronunced whizzah. In any event, they work great.
