Harbor Freight air compressor purchase.

On a recent trip to harbor freight I couldnt pass up the deal as it was laid out for me. I purchased the CP 2.5hp 21 Gallon 125 psi air compressor. Out the store with a 2 year warranty for $135. New to compressors in general and while Harbor Freight does over some great deals you can see where costs were cut to bring prices down... one of those things is a comprehensive manual. Needless to say I am scouring for information. First does anyone have this compressor??

I'm trying to do a small mod to the drain valve and get rid of the cheap valve and put on a ball valve to make draining easier. While it seems like an easy answer I can't get this drain bolt out. Since its brass it will strip in a heart beat and its starting to do that. Any ideas? The drain bolt looks like the picture I attached. The other thing I'm trying to do is put a inline shut off and filter but every time I go to hook up the filter it doesnt look like air goes through. I just purchase the kobalt filter from Lowes with fittings to put the ball valve after. Any assistance is appreciate. I know nothing about compressors just trying to stumble along.
