Probalby just disconnected the welder power supply and hooked the other power source in it's place. Look for the big red wire inside and swap it out. I have a wire feeder that I can power off of anything that'll supply enough power, like my arc welder or a couple of car batteries and it'll work just fine. The wire feeder controls the arc voltage and current by varying the wire feed speed.

Maybe I'm missing something but given that you've been looking for this answer for two weeks now, is there any reason you don't sign up on Pirate and ask him yourself?
Looking at his profile his birthday is a week from today - send him an electronic b-day card.

There's no rocket science here... Welding at this level is all about just generating and controlling a boatload of current.
I'm on a crapload of forums and mailing lists as well. I get traffic from threads I post into but nothing more. For example, in the year I've been on Pirate, I may have gotten one email from the site. There's no overhead in signing up...

i dont think he disconnected his supply on his 135... just doubled up with the car charger.
by supplying it with an addtional supply of current he is able to boost the amount of D/C amps he can weld at.

yeah really, just join and ask him rather than trying to get someone else to. in the time and effort you've wasted around here trying to get someone else to send him a message, you could have done it yourself about 30 times.
