Which benchtop drill press would you buy?

Hi tool experts,

I'm debating between these two drill presses:

http://deltawoodworking.com/index.asp?e=136&p=1152

and this Grizzly one:

http://www.grizzly.com/products/item...emnumber=G7945&

They are roughly the same price.

Aside from similiar specs/capability, I'm leaning towards the grizzly because it has the radial capability, but i'm shying away from it at the same time because the aftermarket parts for the Delta are much better.

Use: woodworking and some light metal working and custom fab stuff. Whatever I need to do with it.

Opinions appreciated!

Bob

I'll have to vote for the "Grizzly" due to the radial arm which also appears to be pivotal as well which would be good for angled drilling, although I'm admittedly a little hesitant due to the somewhat small foot pad but that could be easily remedied.

All in all, the "Grizzly" appears to be the better choice due to it's versatility.

I ain't no drill press expert, but based purely on the specs on the websites, I'd say the second one because it has a more powerful motor and it accepts up to 5/8" bits.

That is true, the grizzly one just doesn't feel right to me for some reason.

I got a nice one for less than $150...a 12 inch drill press. Got it at Home Depot on sale...no idea what brand but it would drill to China! You can't go wrong w/ Delta!

Grizzly, they've got solid tools and great service if you ever have a prob. we've got nearly the same model and its great it taken alot of use/abuse...We screwed up the chuck some how and it wouldn't stay on the taper, rather then tell us oh well its past warranty they replaced the chuck and the taper for free! Get one with the built in light tho if you can find one that meets your needs.

Grizzly is great. I've been to one of their stores in PA. My grandfather who was very in to woodworking had an entire shop full of Grizzly products, and my dad swears by them too.
