goodyear wrangler mt/r's

I have 'em and love 'em...so far about 20000 miles on 33x12.5's and not a single complaint. I have read all the complaints about their performance in the mud, but I have been axle deep in slop and had no trouble. That being said, I dont play in the mud much and have nothing to compare these to as they are my first aggressive tire, but I have not found anything that I wanted to do that these wont tackle...if my balls are big enough to attempt it, these are tough enough to plow the way!!! LOVE 'EM.

I love these in light snow. We had a few inches this week and they cut right through the snow. No compaints so far (other than I don't think they will last that long) on handling or wet weather driving.
They aren't the best when the trail gets real wet, but nothing a locker can't help

these did fantastic in the snow and ice in the city streets. offroad, they did great. got hung up minorly, but that was mostly due to ruts caused by a truck that went ahead of me.
these are great tires!

Unfortunately I had my winter steel rims and tires stolen so I am forced to run the MT/R tires this winter. I was home for the holidays and we got 24" of snow in 36 hours.
That's tons of snow even by my standards, I can't remember the last time we had that much in such a small time frame. Anyhow I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to test out the tires. I am very very pleased in how they performed in the loose and packed snow. They cleand real well and have lots of traction in the deep stuff. Now when it comes to packed snow and ice, they are about as useless as they come. I did expect that because of the large solid lugs. Good winter tires have many bitting edges or sipes. My tires are not sipped and I suspect that sipping them might help but I'm not going to bother. The key to winter driving is slow and steady. We were out wheeling today as well and I ran all day at 18 psi (my MT/Rs are 31x10.5). Once again, the tires worked great in the slush and snow.
Cheers

yea, we went wheelin in some moderate snow (not very deep at all) in connecticut and they did great in everything that wasnt packed or slippery due to trucks that ran in front of me.
glad to hear yours did so well in so much snow! we're supposed to get a measly 3-6" today...

First post here...
Wow this is an old thread. A friend of mine gave me the Wrangler MT/R 32x11.50's off of his Wrangler for my Cherokee a while back. The first thing I noticed was the on-road hum. It was not obnoxious, but definitely noticable. I liked it. They didn't seem too impressive in the mud. The Interco Trxus MT's I had on before did a much better job. The MT/R's however did great on the rocks, better than I thought they would. Snow traction was impressive as well. The only thing that surprised me after the switch from the Trxus to the MT/R's was the first time I used them on wet roads. The MT/R's have horrible wet road traction. I took a very casual 90 degree turn on a 35 miles per hour street, and the back end broke loose on me. I'm sure this would be more prone on a 3,000lb Cherokee than a 4Runner, but still.
Overall I think they are a great tire. As long as you are careful on wet roads, and can deal with mediocre mud performance, they excel at virtually everything else.
