Axle Ike and I have gone round and round on this topic. perhaps they are great for some applications and terrains. Me personally think they should be left for the "mall rated" rigs who might need to drive over a parking placestop or pull the occasional boat out of the water.

Think the the BFG A/t is a perfect example that if enough money is spent in advertisement ppl will beleive the hype. Just my honest opinion.

Hmmm.... Seems you shop at different malls than I do. Good work on the insults though! Haven't been called a mall crawler in a while. Thanks for being a jerk.

i have owned a few set of tires and i think the BFG A/T is the best all around tire you can get, notice i said all around. i have found them to have great tread wear on hevier vehicles like some of our 4runners. plus in smaller sizes (31 and down) they are flat out bullet proof. with that said if i was going off road every day i would have to choose a more looser side wall like on the mickey thompson ATZ. also i do give respect to the terra grapplers, but the side walls are week.

to AxleIke, I appreciate YOUR honesty! ^.^

they also make a great spare tire! i had a lower right control arm bust on me from a hole in a damn parking lot and rode that thing (the tire) to it's bald-on-one-side death! it still has about 40% left on the left of it but when i got a flat, i used my baldy BFG and it was good! needless to say not the best or just as good, but it was decent... for a bald BFG!

i've had 31/10.5/r15 BFG AT's on my pickup for about a year now. i live in oregon and it rains a lot. on the road i could never have a complaint. in the summer on dry ground they can rock offroad. i've never had a problem offroading when it's dry... but they just plain suck in the mud. they don't work at all. i've been out mudded numerous times by similar trucks with MT's.

great tire if it's dry, but if you plan for mudding then don't get em.

i've also heard they work great in the sand. i've never had the chance to try.

x2. They SUCK in the mud. Turn into slicks and won't clear worth a darn.

If you live in a muddy area, this is not the tire for you.

Nearly any "street friendly" tire is not going to be "mud friendly" and vice-versa.

I have BFG AT's on my 2001 and I cannot say enough good things about them. I was between the TG's, since a lot of local guys run them, but I spent the extra and could not be happier. They are the best tires I have run on in the 110k miles I have put on my truck. I will never use anything else.

I have 33x9.50 on a 15 inch wheel and mine work out sell in all forms I'm looking for so far. Great in the rain even at high speeds! Good 4wheeler tire as well. A must for anybody looking to wheel on the weekends or a snow/winter tire it has worked awesome! Thumbs up BFG.

love em!

i have BFG's AT 33 12.50 15 on my truck and i love them. My family has been running them for years now. They are an amazing tire for the price. My primary use of them have been on the road, sand, slick rock, mud, and rough mountain trails. i have never had a problem of lack of traction with these. 10 out of 10

i have to agree.... i have 32's on my 4runner. they have excellent grip on wet pavement as well as in the snow. they always seem to pull me out of muddy situations when i go offroad. i firmly believe because of these tires, i have never been stuck.
you cant go wrong with BFG A/T's

Man, I wonder if you are running too low of high of pressure b/c of the wear!? I have had my Ko's for over two years and they werent new two years ago. For me, they last forever! I put 50k miles on them, I will need new ones soon tho.

I think more focus on the size of the tire needs to be addressed. I am on my second set of these, 33x12.50's on my old cherokee and 32x11.50 on my 86 sr5 now. These tires work great, but in the wider ranges on light trucks they do float a lot, in rain I have noticed hydroplaning from time to time. Like others said they do not clean as much as I would like, in slushy packy snow they tend to fill up and loose traction. I live in Wisconsin and daily drive my rig so I have to fight the balance between on and off road performance. There is one post in here somewhere that hit the nail on the head and that is when these tires get down to about 25% tread left the get really bad. Just a few points I think are important for someone looking at buying a new set.

I've had BFG AT's on several of my trucks over the years and have always been impressed. I get just a little hum going down the road with the windows down but it's not irritating. Wet traction is the only problem that I've ever had with any of them, but the back end of a truck is light anyway so what can you really expect?? Snow traction is very good. I've taken a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with 33's across an open pasture with 18" of snow and never missed a beat.....and then backed out!!! As far a tread wear, I see no problem with it. My brother even had a set of 31x10.50 AT's on his 96 Cherokee and got nearly 70k miles out of them!!! I wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't showed me the paperwork showing the mileage on the Jeep when he bought the tires. Anyway, IMO for the price and all around capability you can't beat these tires.
