Thumbs up Stock Head-unit & AMP Wiring = Easy

I came across a DIY harness on eBay to make it easy for those wiring up a system to their Factory Head-units. Since, I'm a complete nOOb to wiring up an amp and subs this helped a ton. The harness kit consists of both Male and Female harness pigtails, a inline adjustable converter and butt concerts for the grand total of 12.99 w/ free shipping.

BTW, I have a 2000 4Runner Limited so I installed the harness between the factory amp and actual truck harness with no problems so far.

Factory HU->Factory AMP->DIY Harness->Truck Harness

Let me know if you have any ?s

I'm running a 600watt amp hooked up to two 10 MTXs with my factory hu and amp. But with an aftermarket hu, you can use the the harness that plugs into the truck harness (female end side) & the RCA line convertor, if the aftermarket hu doesnt have rca plug ins. Then just connect the hu harness and run the amp turn on wire to your amp.

Yes, and as osoquik suggested go with the Rca pre outs on the back of your deck if it has them.

If it doesn't, you can simply wire in the line level converter to hook up an external amp. The gray and white wires on the one pictured above are spliced into a pair of speaker wires( front or rear depending on which you want the amp to power or rear if you want to power a sub usually). The rca's are ran from the converter to your amp. The converters I generally install have a ground wire that cuts down on feedback through the speakers, you can also add a ground to converters without one.

Your remote turn on wire should be blue with a white line on an aftermarket deck, you want to extend that wire all the way back to your amp. Also try to run it along the same side as your +12V power wire and run the rca's on the opposite side of the vehicle.
