[WY] Sand to Snow *dial up beware

This past Sunday, I headed out to the desert and then drove into the mountains along with a few friends that I go 4wheel exploring with, under the name Corps of Discovery 4x4 . We had 2 Toyotas and 2 Jeeps on our trip from Farson, WY into Sweetwater Gap in the Wind River Mtns. It was just a day trip but we covered 94 miles in the dirt through a lot of diverse area. A few pics from the trip -

Starting out in the desert with the Wind River Mountains on the horizon -

Stopped at one of the few watering holes out here -

Making progress -

Rocky Mountain Sheep camp -

Gettin' close -

We're there -

The air up there -

Mr. Buttersworth -

Coming back down Block & Tackle Hill -

One mud puddle on the whole mountain -

Mandatory group shot with a lot of square headlights -

Coming off the mountain, back down to the desert floor and on home -

We should have a full trip report with many more pics posted on our site later this week.

New England scenery blows... I want to go cool places like that...*sigh*
If you want to look at leaves changing color, New England is the place to be, if you aren't a homo, there are not any really cool places here...not like that anyway...

Seriously, if you keep posting pictures like those, Wyoming is going to have one more resident. Since late May/early June the LA basin in SoCal has been boxed in by haze and smog and there is no longer a view to be had from any of the local mountain ranges. You're killing me out here.

PS, random question, what are your winters like?

Thanks for the comments guys! It was a great day 4 wheeling with some great friends.

Wyoming is a great place to explore, but I'm a NC native and I get a bad jones this time of year for the Outer Banks or just some good size lakes. Can't beat the fall colors back east either!

They're like this -

Actually they are long but tolerable. Wyoming is a very windy state and in the flat areas and on the western slopes of the mountain ranges, the wind makes for a tough winter. You have to really like snow because it starts snowing on Halloween and goes through mid-June.

i feel like the northeast is totally missing out on wide open plains and beautiful mountain trails.
