Wheeler Lake Heep Recovery

We took most of the day on video, as soon as its on CD, i'll post it.

We did, however, have a fun time righting a wrong side up jeep. It was a lucky flop, they landed on bushes, and had scratches but no real dents.

Also, a couple of pictures of my dads 4Runner. Good times.

Was he just not paying attention and rolled off the side of the trail?

The picture doesn't show it very well, but he is actually on a spur trail, and is right at the intersection of the spur and main drag. He was backing up to let some people pass, but had no doors, so he had no mirrors, and couldn't see that side of the road very well. He said it just slid down, and then, almost slow motion style, flopped.

I should also mention that finding a place to winch from on a unibody truck is difficult. We eventually went with the tranny xmember because there wasn't anything else that was close to the middle of the truck.

I would be more worried about oil or gas which may have leaked and contaminated the soil. Also, that is clearly off trail. Is that public land and if it is did anyone get the license plate and report the driver?

he was on a trail, he just fell off accidentally. Not really his choice, i think if he'd had his druthers, he'd have stayed on the trail actually.

There was no leakage, i checked it out. It all drained somewhere in his engine, and ya, it was smoking good. He refused our offer to pull the plugs, and get the oil out, he said "it'll start right up". It did, but it wasn't pretty.

This has nothing to do with Tread Lightly, it was NOT a deliberate violation, it was an accident, and that falls into an entirely different area. Cool it.

Oh, and i do have some video of the recovery, the rest was lost due to a dead battery, and we couldn't get it replaced (didn't want to stop pulling him out just to get video, ya know?)

We are having much difficulty getting the video OFF the stupid camera. It has to be burned to DVD, so i can upload it where there is nice FAST interent, and the stupid burner went belly up. So....its going to be a bit, sorry for the extreme delay, but we'll get it soon. (i hope)
