Pics - 2-25-11 - Darrington, WA

hit up Darrington for some snow! when the snow got too deep for comfort in the truck we strapped on some snowshoes and went for the top of the mountain on foot.
Picasa Photos

Deep snow.. had to park the truck a little early...

Alright, now I have a minute to add pictures here...

The turn onto NF24. The tracks ahead only went to the first turn uphill about 200yds away.. they turned around.

Got here about 8:30

Ended up cutting away five trees... here was the first

Cut another...

And another...

one more time...

Smooth sailing from here

starting to get pretty deep

getting deeper... some good views from here

more snow

Brr

time to park...

setting off on foot... still a long ways to go... we made it to the Y for 2420

too many switchbacks... lets go straight up :dizzy:

finally some views!

pristine snow

The views... didn't want to leave!

heading back down

Whitehorse

Great pictures.
I still have a trace of snow where I live.

Nice to see us get some snow down at the lower elevations, and more in the mountains to add to the snowpac.

Looks like you had a great time and breath taking views.

Yeah, want me to PM your number so you can wake me up at an unholy hour after digging for a few first trying to get out, so i can come get you? Never wheel alone, that's just plain stupid.

Sweet, pics are from a different side of the mountain than I usually see. Looks like a hella fun trip.

How far was the trek once you parked the truck to the turn around point?

thanks. yeah we snowshoed a few miles past where we parked, took most of the day. I wasn't worried about being the only rig.. I had service on my phone to call my friend if I needed to. I go out a lot by myself, I just make sure to let my wife know which road I head up in case I don't come back, she can call my friend to come pull me out. Never had to call anyone getting stuck in the snow though...

Killer pics!! I would never go snow wheelin alone lol. I always prefer to have another vehicle along for the ride. I would at least have some tire chains haha.

On the plus side you had a buddy so if you got stranded you could spoon for warmth though you'll really wished you'd taken your wife instead of a bro I take my dog as long as I got him I'll never go hungry

Still say cool trip. I'd do it solo rig. Really your safety plan is very feasible, "party on Garth"

Just saw this and man is that amazing! I love some snow wheeling but I'd be too puckered up to get off the seat in snow that deep!
