newbie wheeling video in Socorro
This past weekend I took out a 13 year old potential adoptive son. His mom has cancer and is expected to give up ghost in 8 months or so. She wants my wife and I to care for him and see him off into the world. This was Davids first time wheeling, so he didn't want to do anything to hard, but mostly show his buddies at school he can drive a killer rig.
Here is a short clip I put together for him.
This video was done with a Canon PowerShot S3-IS.
Music by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Song; Lenny

edit: I updated the video with some better (IMHO) transistions, and I put credits at the end of the flick.

No kidding! The first time I really got to take a car out for a decent drive was just after I turned 15. My dad took me out to a gravel road out in the stix and I learned how to drive a standard. It's a little easier to learn on the loose stuff, although I can see it being considered "cheating."

Thanks to all. Indeed, he was very stoked. The video fades out as he is driving away. He actually drove about 80 more yards and then turned around and drove it back. I dropped him off at a friends house after camping and he told his friends, of course they didn't believe him. So, out came the video footage, and they were really impressed. I'm sure he was the talk of the school today.
Adopting him is the least we can do. His biological dad bailed when is was 3 1/2 years, and his mom has been struggling ever since.
Plus, we shot a 22 pistol and 22Ruger rifle. He was really stoked about shooting those as well. I got a video of him burning through 10 rounds on the pistol, flames from the barrel and all. Quite a weekend.

The family, thats where it's at.
Lance.....adopt you, welll, I don't know if i could afford your little 4Wheeling habits....LOL, j/k.
Thank for the props on the 4Runner. Yeah, David was pretty relaxed. I told him he couldn't mess up, there simply was no way, so just have fun and do it.
The previous day he did some of the Coyote Canyon Trail, which is conisdered a hard in Socorro. He did pretty well on the trail. He had a tough time of staying off the brakes, but after a while he got the hang of just creeping it through the trail using just the skinny pedal. Since he is kinda short, we used the thick Toyota Manual as a booster so he could see over the hood, fortunatly he could reach the peddles and blocks strapped to the bottom of his shoes were not necessary. LOL

Well I gotta say Im am jealous. My boy is only two but he loves trucks. I can't wait to get him behind the wheel of my runner. I think Im gonna start early with him holding the wheel while I work the pedals. Being a dad is an awsome experiance, and I wish the best for the two of you.

Yup, Philippians 1:21. People usually don't learn much when all in their life is happy roses. Its when the tough times come, that we really learn who we are, who our friends are and who we can trust....God. We all will have many tests in our lives, but these tests are givin to us to make us grow.
I really enjoyed teaching him how to wheel and encouraging him to really use the 4Runner to crawl the rocks. I think next time I'll have him do some narly trails. Lots of fun......

I updated the video to try and reduce the size of the video. I think I only saved a few kilobytes.....I also updated the transistions, cut it down a bit and put credits at the end of the flick.

You're blessing him while you're being blessed.
I've been taking some of my son's friends (city kids with no father in the pix) and they really make me smile.
At first they are apprehencive then they relax and start being boys
What a wholesome experience for all
