Medano Pass - Colorado
Has anyone been on this pass lately? The website says that part of the trail was washed out but has been filled in. Is this trail too much for a stock rig? If not, I'm going to have to get an air pump so I can let some air out of the tires...

From a report on colorado4x4.org on June 9th....
Just got back from a long weekend in the Sand Dunes area (actually camped at San Luis Lakes State Park). Ran Medano from the Dunes to the top and back. All open, water crossings were not too deep (deepest about 24"). We saw the spot where it had recently washed out but it was repaired.

Awesome! Thanks for the update.
24" of water sounds like a lot to me. Does a rig have to have breather extensions or anything on the differentials? Would you try that much water with stock sized tires??

I'd advise a rear diff breather for sure. I'd go out to your rig and measure up about 24-30" and that will tell you about where the water level will be on your truck. I wouldn't personally drive through water that would reach the passenger door seams.

You can get a stock Toyota through Medano no problem! I've done Medano several times in a stock 85 pickup. Very cool area to camp as well! The Sand Dunes are truely awesome.
