Insurance should cover that unless there was a specific exclusion for off roading. Insurance covers off roading accidents, drunk driving, careless driving, street racing, stupidity, etc. If you do something on purpose and try to collect from insurance, that would be fraud and obviously wouldn't be covered.

how do you NOT have insurance on a newer vehicle ? but afford to lift it, wheel, tires etc.

That is nuts!!! and no insurance...hehm. I am just glad everyone is okay...and props to mike for being a stand up guy (like who wouldn't in this case though, right?)

 

Reading the other thread it sounds more and more like they aren't involving insurance due to the circumstances than she just flat out doesn't have insurance. Most states require some sort of insurance (even if it is only liability which wouldn't matter in this case) to register a car. But it is all speculation until we hear from the horse's mouth what happened.

Yes I agree, I'm glad everyone is Ok and in the event I'm wrong about the insursance , that was the conclusion I came up with, from the thread that is now closed.

Very unfortunate glad everyone was OK and from the video I think the drop was more like ~20 feet or so, seeing the truck stand on it's nose and Lion's back in the back ground looks like a big fall but not fifty feet. Probably felt that way though!

 

Just read that he is stepping down from NoCal president's spot because he was drinking. Sucks all the way around. Glad they are alright, but I don't condone drinkin and wheelin.

and the important thing is,
everyone is ok, and walked away, vehicles can be replaced, people cant..

 

I totally agree. I'm glad he manned up and ended the speculations. Sucks that it happened. Seems like a cool guy.

 

Owning up to the responsibility of one's mistakes is but half the equation in defining a man's character. Accepting and enduring the consequences when the dust settles and folks have stopped their accolades is the true test of a man's character. True character always goes unseen and unnoticed by the masses IMO.

I wish the young man well and hope he learns an invaluable lesson at the cheap price of a truck rather than the priceless value of a human life.

ouch..... Indeed, in many cases drinking on the trail may not cause an issue, but when it does, its not pretty. In this case, it certainly cost both people involved a bit of hardship, and possible issues later on down the road of life. Either way, the greenies can take this and have a field day with it. It seems he didn't have too much to drink (he was able to react quickly to the situation), but any drink is one drink too many for the trail. Hope we all can learn from this. Save the booze for camp, don't bring it on the trail.
